Pumpkin Craft for October Adult Craft Class

The October’s Adult Craft class will feature these “recycled” pumpkins – the pumpkins are made from recycled materials. Paper towel rolls and cereal boxes are the structure of the pumpkin, once you have assembled it with hot glue, it is up to your imagination on the design.

This class will be on Wednesday, October 26, at 5 to 7 pm in the Meeting Room. We will provide the recyclables (paper towel/craft rolls and food boxes), hot glue, paint, and material needed for designs.

Registration is required to make sure we have enough supplies!

April Craft: Flower Designed From Map Paper

Our Adult Craft class for April features a spring flower! Design a flower from map and atlas paper. Join us to put together one of these unique flowers! This is an upcycled designed to reuse atlas paper. The map paper gives the flower a fun, full, attention-grabbing appearance. The cut paper is rolled and taped into cones, and then hot glued onto a pre-cut cardboard circle.

Adult Craft Class: Painting Rocks🖌

We are going to paint rocks at the Adult Craft Class at the Franklin branch this month!

Rock painting, as a craft trend, has been around for a few years, but has really taken off in the past two. There are kindness rocks, those are rocks with inspirational messages to gift to those that could use words of encouragement, there are flower bed rocks to decorate those areas, and as garden markers, and the old-school paper weight. We have to be careful with rocks that will be left outdoors, making sure the paint is sealed, to protect the environment.

We will have rocks, paint, brushes, sealant, and a few blow dryers to speed the drying process. We also have markers if want to write a small message.

Registration required to have the necessary supplies.

Gnomes, gnomes gnomes

The gnome making craft class was fun! Seeing different creative styles is the most enjoyable part of the process. Thanks to everyone for coming out and putting these little guys together. We ended up with quite an impressive bunch, but I only got a few good pictures. We will get out the advertising on the January class very soon.

Adult Craft: Holiday Gnome

The story of the Scandinavian Christmas gnome has been in circulation for quite a while.

Although the exact definition has changed quite a bit over the years, gnomes are said to be nature spirits that live underground, often interacting with humans in either helpful or mischievous ways. However, in Scandinavia, these gnomes (known as nisse in Norway) are associated with the Christmas season. Much like the American Santa Claus, the julenisse—basically Kris Kringle in gnome form—visits the homes of good children on Christmas Eve. Children leave a bowl of porridge out for him, and in return, the julenisse brings presents to their front door.

Sounds familiar. However the story began doesn’t harm the fact that Christmas gnomes are everywhere. We are having an adult craft class on Thursday, December 9 at 3 pm at the Franklin branch to learn one way to easily make them. Registration is required to ensure that we have enough supplies.

🎀Bows and Pinwheels: Last Chance to Register!

A friendly reminder that you are able to learn how to make these adorable bows and pinwheels with old book pages.

We continue in the theme of upcycling old book pages making these cute bows and pinwheels as a unique addition to holiday design. They can be strung as a garland to wrap around a tree, on a mantle, or used to dress up older items in your holiday decorating treasure chest. These are that touch of distinction that will set your gift and decorations apart from the rest this holiday season. You can use them to “dress up” any offering to friends and family with a distinctive style or signature.

With size changes or a touch of color, they can be used as a themed decoration at any time of the year.

This craft requires the ability to cut paper and use a hot glue gun.

Registration for this event is required – we want to have enough supplies for everyone.
