The “Business” of the Library

By Dawn Green, Fairview Branch Librarian

In addition to the books, periodicals and media available at your local library, you might be surprised to find many tools to help you succeed in business. Each branch is equipped with several types of equipment needed to keep your business–home or office– running efficiently.

Some of our most frequently used services are:

1. Copying. Each black and white page is $.10 while color pages are $1.00 each.

2. Faxing. Local and Toll-Free numbers are $1.00 for the first page.

Long Distance numbers are $2.00 for the first page.

Subsequent pages for each type of number are $.25 each.

These are the only services provided that have any accompanying cost. All other services listed are provided free of charge to our patrons.

The libraries of WCPL also provide a free notary service and test proctoring. Scanners are available for use in scanning photos and items into email. There is no charge for this ability.

The number of the library system’s inventory of public computers varies by location but are always available during operating hours. Wireless connectivity and printing are also available. In addition to the computer hardware, patrons can receive assistance with computer- based job applications and resumes. In this age of digital job apps and online training, the library offers assistance for those who feel uncertain of their ability. These resources give patrons the chance to use and improve their computer skills.
