Borrow a Book From Another Library (ILL)

Books, audiobooks and videos not owned by the Williamson County Public Library system may be borrowed from other libraries by patrons in good standing. No item may be requested within its first year of publication. The limit is 25 requests per calendar year and process up to 3 requests at one time. Check with Library staff for details.

Borrow an eReader

Check out an eReader from any branch library. Place a hold in the catalog or ask staff. The loan period is 3 weeks and may be renewed 1 time. eReader content list by author and title.

 Courier Service

Now the entire collection of the Williamson County Public Library system is available to you from any branch library. The courier service runs 5 days a week, Tuesday through Saturday. Expect delivery in a few days if the book is available on the shelf.

Fax Service

send only fax service is available at the Circulation Desk of the Main Library and branch libraries for 20 pages or less. Local call fee is $1.00 for the first page and $0.25 per additional page thereafter. Long distance fax fee is $2.00 for the first page and $0.25 per additional page thereafter. No charge for the cover sheet.

Income Tax Forms

During the tax season, February through April 15, WCPL hosts tax preparation assistance in partnership with the IRS’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA). More information is posted on our income tax page along with a list of tax forms available at the Main Library . Tax forms are available online at the IRS web site.

Lost and Found

Personal items left in the Main Library will be kept for 1 week before they are discarded. Ask at the Circulation Desk or call 595-1277 for further information.

Meeting Room

Meeting rooms are available at the Main, Fairview and Nolensville libraries for use by local non-profit groups and organizations. Please review the Meeting Room policy prior to contacting staff to make a reservation. Meeting room reservations require a minimum of two weeks notice and a signed guidelines agreement prior to the meeting.

Small group meeting space, no more than 10 people, and study area is available at the Main Library. The Williamson Room, located on the second floor of the library in the Special Collections Department is available during the hours of 9-5:30PM Monday-Saturday, and 9-7:30pm on Thursdays. For information contact Jason Gavin at 615-595-1246 ext 1. Memorial Program

Contributions may be made “in honor of” and “in memory of” individuals and families at all branch libraries. Please consider donating to the library to honor your friend or loved one.

Larger contributions may be designated to make ongoing purchases of materials or to purchase furnishings or other equipment (Please note that these items will not carry a donor plate).

    • A $20 gift will purchase an individual book in which is placed a gift plate listing the names of both the donor and the honoree. The library also sends a notice of the gift to the family of the person in whose honor or memory the book is given.
    • The donor may specify a subject.
    • Contributions of less than $20 are placed in the Enrichment Fund and used cumulatively to purchase larger and more expensive materials.
    • Call 615-595-1242 (ext. 4) 9am – 4pm, for assistance with your memorial contribution Tuesday through Saturday 9 am until 4 pm.

Notary

Notary service is provided without charge during regular library hours by appointment. To schedule an appointment at the Main Library please call 615-224-6086. If visiting a branch library call before coming to confirm that a Notary will be available.

One-On-One Computer, Software, eReader & Tablet Assistance

Patrons may schedule a One-on-One appointment with Reference library staff for assistance. Appointments are 30-minute sessions with a staff member who will offer computer assistance to fit your library resource needs. This service is ideal for creating an email account, learning to use the mouse and keyboard, managing and maximizing your library account, electronic library resource tutorials, and both basic and intermediate level questions about Microsoft Office programs.  Service is limited to resources available via the library computers. You will need your library card to log onto a library computer.

Bring your ereader or tablet for assistance with using the device, adding Apps and downloading from the library’s ebook and eaudiobook websites.

Appointments are offered Monday to Friday between9:30-11:30 and 2:00-7:00.  Please call the Reference Department at 615-595-1243 for more information or to schedule an appointment.

 Test Proctoring

  • Residents of Williamson County may contact the library to pre-arrange a date and time to take a proctored exam.
  • Arrangements are made based on the availability of staffing on the requested date.

TWRA Boating Safety Exam

  • The TWRA Boating Exam must be taken online. The test taker must have a valid Williamson County library card, TLC sticker or computer guest pass.
  • A test taker between the ages 11 and 17 must have permission to use the internet on his/her library account.
  • A computer guest pass may be issued to a test taker under the age of 17 as long as a parent or guardian is present to sign the application.
  • Appointments are required. Call 615-595-1243.
  • Prior to the exam, Type 600 boating safety exam permit must be purchased for $10.00. Permits are available at stores that sell hunting and fishing licenses.
  • The exam permit will also serve as a temporary certificate if you pass the exam.
  • Test takers can get a free study guide, “Boat Tennessee: A Course on Responsible Boating” at the Reference desk.

Vanderbilt University Libraries

A courtesy access card to Vanderbilt Libraries, except Eskind Biomedical, may be checked at the Main Library Reference Service desk. The loan period is one week.

Voter Registration Forms

Copies of the Mail-In Voter Registration Form are available at all library locations. Contact each location for more information. Mail-In Voter Registration Forms are also available as a PDF file.

  • Access requires a valid library card, a TLC sticker or a guest pass in good standing
  • Visitor Guest pass available with proper ID for 30 days

Computers, Software, Equipment


The Main branch at WCPLtn features 87 public access computers: 8 pre-school and 8 internet accessible in the children’s department, 22 in the adult / reference department,  24 in the computer lab, 6 in Special Collections, and 8 in the teens department.  All machines offer printing capability and free online access to all of our databases and the internet.

Public computers are available for all hours that the library is open with no reservations necessary. Visitors may apply for a 30 day computer pass while visiting the Main, Fairview or Nolensville libraries.


Equipment 


Copier

A copier is available at the library. The cost is 10 cents per page for letter and legal size copies.

Flat bed scanners

These are available in the Adaptive Technology Center, Reference area and Special Collections for use by patrons.

Low Vision Reader

The Franklin Lions Club donated a low vision reader for public use at the Main Library. It is located on the second floor in the Reference Department and magnifies items placed under the camera and displays on the monitor. Reference staff are available to assist with the reader.

Microfilm / microfiche readers

These are available in the Special Collections Department.

Printing

Most computers have printing capabilities. The Print Release Station is located on the second floor in the Reference Department. Children’s department homework computers print in the department. Black and white copies are 10 cents per page, and color copies are $1.00 per page.

WI-FI Hotspot

Check out a WI-FI Hotspot. Internet on the GO for WI-FI compatible devices.  Checkout is limited to county residents, 18 years of age or older, for a period of 1 week.  Requests for a hotspot may be placed in the catalog, search T-Mobile, or ask your home library staff. Adaptive Technology Center

Offers two ADA computers with adjustable workstation desk height, 19 inch flat panel monitors with swing arms, 1 touchscreen monitor, flatbed scanner, headphones (available upon request), BigKeys LX and KEYS-U keyboards, oversize Infogrip ball mouse, ExpertMouse ball mouse, standard 3 button wheel mouse as well as one handed keyboard, Glidepoint Adesso touchpad and a switch adapted joystick (both available upon request).

Software: FS Reader, JAWS screen reader, Laureate Educational, Magic screen magnification, Office suite 2003, OpenBook in combination with a scanner reads items scanned, Photoshop Elements, and switch friendly games.

Optelec Clear View document magnification device
Includes a picture and reading mode, reverse reading mode, adjustable image brightness and 3 display modes including full video, computer and split screen between computer and Optelec.
